16 Beads is a two-player strategy board game also known as Sholo Guti or Sixteen Soldiers. The game is played with beads or pieces placed on a lined board with connected points. Each player starts with 16 beads, and the main goal is to capture all of the opponent’s beads. The game does not have a story campaign, characters, or missions. It is based on movement, positioning, capturing, and planning turns.

A Traditional Board Setup

The board is made of intersecting lines, and beads move along those lines from one point to another. Each player begins with their own group of 16 beads on opposite sides of the board. The middle area is used for movement and conflict after the match begins. Since both players have the same number of pieces, the result depends on how well each player controls space and avoids careless moves.

Movement, Captures, and Turns

Gameplay is turn-based. On each turn, a player chooses one bead and moves it to a connected empty point. If an opponent’s bead is next to it and there is an empty point directly beyond that bead, the player can jump over it and capture it. The captured bead is removed from the board. Some versions allow chain captures, where one bead can continue jumping over more opponent beads in the same turn.

The main things players do in 16 Beads include:

·         moving beads along connected lines;

·         jumping over opponent beads to capture them;

·         watching for possible chain captures;

·         protecting important positions;

·         blocking the opponent’s movement;

·         planning several turns ahead;

·         trying to remove all 16 opponent beads.

No Levels, Only Matches

16 Beads does not use levels in the usual video game sense. Progress happens inside each match as more beads are captured and the board becomes more open. Some online versions include computer opponents, local multiplayer, difficulty settings, hints, or undo options. However, the basic structure remains the same: two sides take turns until one player wins by removing all opponent beads or leaving them without useful moves.

To play, the user selects a bead, checks the available connected points, and moves or captures according to the board lines. A simple move can improve position, but a capture can reduce the opponent’s options. The player should avoid placing beads where they can be jumped over easily. The main goal is to use careful movement and captures to control the board and take all of the opponent’s beads.
