Power Hungry Pets

Power Hungry Pets is a deduction and elimination card game in which every participant normally holds only one card. Each card has a numerical value from zero to ten and a special action that can affect another player, reveal information, exchange cards, or provide protection. The game supports two to six players, takes about fifteen minutes, and has no story or campaign. Its pet characters serve as illustrations for the individual card powers.

One Draw and One Decision

At the beginning of a round, each player receives one secret card. Another card is removed from the deck face down so participants cannot determine every card currently in play. On a turn, the active player draws from the central pile, giving them two cards. They choose one to keep hidden and place the other face up in front of them. The played card’s action is resolved immediately, after which the turn passes clockwise.

Information Creates an Advantage

Played cards remain visible instead of entering a shared discard pile. This allows participants to track which values are no longer available and estimate what opponents may be holding. Keeping the higher number is often useful because the highest remaining card normally wins the round. However, playing a valuable card may activate an effect that removes a competitor or changes the contents of several hands.

The card actions include different tactical options:

• Crystal Bowl lets the player guess an opponent’s card number and eliminate them if correct.
• Mouse Trapper allows one card in the draw pile to be inspected and repositioned.
• Battle Bunny compares two hidden cards and eliminates the owner of the lower value.
• Shell Shield protects the current hand from other card effects until the next turn.
• Doggy Grave Digger interacts with the card removed during setup.
• Hermit Home Swap forces an exchange of hidden cards.
• King Cat has the highest value but eliminates its owner if played face up.
• Royal Robovac can defeat King Cat under a specific end-of-round condition.

Winning Rounds and Collecting Tokens

Power Hungry Pets does not contain levels, maps, unlockable abilities, or permanent upgrades. Progress is divided into short rounds and recorded with seven included tokens. A player who is eliminated reveals their remaining card and takes no more turns during that round. If only one participant remains, that person wins immediately. Otherwise, the round ends when the draw pile is empty, and all surviving players reveal their cards.
